In 5 days time, I will bring a new world of sensations never before experienced to each and everybody.

—Yamato, in his announcement of ‘D-Day’

Yamato was a Priest of Nox and the Chief Executive Officer of Nine Dragon Games.

Appearance[]

Yamato was an obese man weighing 120kg and looking like a gym ball with messy brownish hair and freckles. He refrained from wearing Nox robes due to ‘an allergy to Nox attire’, and instead wore thick glasses and a purplish jacket over a white shirt and grey trousers.

Personality[]

Despite his rank in Nox, Yamato cared about neither the dogma nor the wellbeing of the organisation, instead placing more concern on his own goals, which included scientific research and inventions defying all sense of morality as well as the paying back of any grudges. To the mad scientist, collateral damage was never a consideration, and he was more than willing to sacrifice the lives of others including those of innocent people if it would mean achieving his purposes. In addition he liked fast foods.

History[]

When he was much slimmer than present, Yamato joined Nox at around the same time Sang Mandeok did. By means of his amazing research into Charyeok, National Treasures and Energy Stones, Yamato was elevated to Priesthood and put in charge of Nox’s Japan branch situated in Kyoto. He also expanded his connections into the criminal underworld, talking Ogawa Shinji into letting him invest in Nine Dragons while they provided him with the muscle.

7 years ago, having heard about the peculiar Charyeok of Sakura Yui, Yamato led Hajime Ryo and dozens of underlings to offer the teenage girl a fortune and a way to remove her curse in return for being a test subject. After an initial refusal resulting in the slaughter of the underlings except for Ryo who had saved Yamato, the deal eventually got accepted. Making Ryo his personal aide, Yamato then used his powers as a yakuza to find pornographic job contracts for keeping Yui well fed on semen, while preparing an experiment in the Nox branch for testing the limits of her Charyeok. On the day of the experiment, Yamato dismissed the advice from Abel concerning the true nature of Yui’s powers and went ahead with experimenting, only to have her transform and go berserk, ending in the destruction of the branch and the terrible deaths of all other Nox followers numbering in the hundreds. Although Yamato survived thanks to Abel, the higher-ups of Nox viewed him as responsible, and he was ordered into exile in Japan.

Feeling resentful at Nox, a few years later Yamato constructed a laboratory under Nine Dragons Hall as well as established Nine Dragon Games to serve as a front for the yakuza organisation, through which he earned huge profits to gain more prestige among their ranks as well as a foothold into the gaming world consisting of hundreds of millions. In the meantime he also developed many new inventions, bidding his time for the opportunity to start a coup against Nox.

Heroes of Street[]

Released from exile by Mandeok who needed someone to eliminate the threat of the elusive Shadow, Yamato brought Ryo, Yui and V along with heavy weaponry and hundreds of Nine Dragons underlings turned into Marionettes to South Korea. Greeted at a Busan port by Axley Ivanovic who became horrified at him ordering the massacre of the port staff so that his weaponry wouldn’t be stopped at customs, Yamato was brought to a Nox church to meet Mandeok, and got promised with more Energy Stones if he can deprive Shadow of any operational capabilities. As he and his army moved out, Yamato took into his fold Justin who offered to work for him.

Unable to find anything about the Shadow employees except for Sin Yunseong who had refrained from erasing all records about himself in order to serve as bait, Yamato went to the prime minister’s mansion to take him hostage before phoning Yunseong about it. After Yunseong arrived alone, Yamato told Yui to put Yunseong under mind control and make him spill out all information about Shadow. Ordering Yunseong to be temporarily released following the formation of the attack strategy, Yamato engaged in a conversation with the rival executive during which he made a declaration of war, then had Yui force Yunseong to return to the secret Shadow headquarters with a time bomb.

Relocating to the banks of the Han River as the army of Marionettes poured through the capsule train tunnel towards the Shadow headquarters, Yamato boasted to Justin about how he controlled the Marionettes using their masks. When jamming had cut the Charyeok signals controlling some of the Marionettes, Yamato instead stopped all the signals transmitted to the Marionettes underground so they will go berserk. Next he mobilised a drone helicopter to fire hellfire missiles at Gang Daehyeop and Sin Taepung through a hole in the tunnel opened up by a cave in, blowing the Han River into the Shadow headquarters and flooding it. After Taepung destroyed the drone, Yamato commanded Yui to mind control the two Field Agents, causing them to fight each other until Taepung defeated Daehyeop before collapsing himself. Although intending to keep the pair alive as test subjects for Charyeok transplantation while also severing their tendons to cripple them, Yamato was forced to abandon his plan when Yun Taesu and Violet Ella Wong Perez came to their rescue, during which Taesu slaughtered all of his remaining Marionettes. V subsequently returned from the neutralised headquarters reporting that Eric Sin was terminated, so considering his objectives achieved, Yamato decided to retreat.

Receiving his payment of Energy Stone scraps, Yamato went ahead with his plan to generate a Marionette army numerous enough to destroy Nox, thus declared in an interview that Nine Dragon Games was going to release tens of millions of Dream Skulls on ‘D-Day’. Via all sorts of threats and blackmail, Yamato forced the executives of various companies to reserve spots at the gaming convention held in BEXCO that will help distribute the Dream Skulls, while also setting up a fake sales promotion event at COEX as a diversion. Dispatching Ryo and V to other locations and leaving only Yui as his bodyguard, Yamato accepted Alphonse and his subordinates as reinforcements, ordering them to kidnap Seo Yuri so she will be a contingency against Daehyeop. However when Alphonse passed along Mandeok’s order for all Priests to assemble for the conflict against Park Mujin, Yamato simply ignored it as he turned the dozens of male staff at the warehouse storing the Dream Skulls into Marionettes while killing the female staff and burning Alphonse’s face. On the eve of ‘D-Day’, Yamato prepared the fortune of 5 million dollars promised to Yui as well as capsules containing semen for suppressing her Charyeok since their contract was coming to an end.

Everything was according to plan on ‘D-Day’ as Yamato and Justin oversaw the gaming event at BEXCO unfolding while Shadow and the authorities were focused on the diversion at COEX, yet just before the first Dream Skulls were to be released, all of the buyers rushed outside to grab the money Daehyeop was scattering around the area. Talking Yui and Hiro into allowing him safe passage back to Japan in exchange for the way to remove Yui’s curse, Yamato accompanied by them and Justin ran into Lee Sujin who subsequently left and Yunseong who accepted the earlier declaration of war. While Yui held Yunseong at bay, Yamato and Justin made for their hotel atop which a helicopter awaits, with Daehyeop hot on their heels despite the efforts of Hiro. Yamato proceeded to murder a pregnant woman and take her baby hostage, then released poison gas that turned bystanders into rampaging monstrosities so that Daehyeop got slowed down. Murdering a motorist to carjack his vehicle, Yamato nearly killed the baby when he threw it at a highway, and made it to the hotel as Hiro delayed Daehyeop again. After retrieving the money promised to Yui, Yamato discovered that she hadn’t taken her required dose of semen and thus transformed into a titanic spider once more, so with Alphonse unresponsive to commands for bringing Yuri along, he and Justin hastened to the helicopter while brandishing the detonator for his nuclear bomb to deter pursuit. However as Daehyeop leapt to the rooftop, the detonator and the helicopter were wrecked by an electro-magnetic pulse fired by Park Jinoh, resulting in Yamato getting beaten up by Daehyeop. Although he got a reprieve when Hiro caught up, the fact that he was incapable of removing Yui’s curse was revealed by Violet. Following Hiro’s defeat and the appearance of Baek Yeonwoo alongside government forces, Yamato used the distraction provided by their conflict with Daehyeop to hijack a police helicopter, only to have it brought down over the sea after Daehyeop leapt onto it.

At Daehyeop’s demand, the captured Yamato tried to deactivate the satellite system transmitting the Charyeok signals for the Dream Skulls, only to find that somebody had changed the password. Later brought to the Prosecution Office, Yamato got violently interrogated by Yeonwoo who was furious at him murdering all the civilians, and nearly got killed when the Superintendant realised the government was planning to let him off the hook in return for his abilities. Though Axley busted him out just in time, Yamato was told that Mandeok had declared him defrocked and to be banished to Mexico. Yui and Hiro then tracked him down to the motel he was brought to, and Yamato when handing her the money and theorising that the Key may be the key to removing her Charyeok, finally grasped that it was Ryo who had betrayed him and usurped the Ouroboros. Refusing Yui’s offer to give him a painless death, Yamato subsequently died a painful one as a Taesu irate at him making a mess of Jegal Taek’s hometown devoured him with Greed.

Abilities[]

Yamato categorises himself into the Intellectual Group, which instead of using Martial Arts like the Strength Group or Charyeok like the Charyeok Users, fights by intellect and inventions. Apart from his genius with scientific research and development, Yamato also possesses an insidious mind for strategy as well as keen observation skills and thorough intelligence gathering expertise through the internet.

However, he has no knowledge of Korean, therefore when conversing with Koreans who don’t know Japanese, Yamato will speak in English in hopes that the listener will somehow understand or somebody is around to translate. In addition he cannot swim.

Inventions[]

Yamato is a prodigy with research into Charyeok as well as other scientific fields, and since he is also not hampered by moral restrictions, he accordingly made many miraculous but horrifying inventions:

  • Marionette Mask: Using the Energy Stone scraps embedded within the masks worn by Nine Dragons’ underlings, a Charyeok signal is emitted into the brain of the wearer to manipulate the brain waves of his frontal lobe, turning him into a Marionette totally obedient to the controller.
  • Katy Perry: An Apache helicopter converted into a remote controlled firework drone. It is armed with an AH-64D Apache 30mm M230 chain gun as well as AGM-114 hellfire/AIM-92 stinger twin missiles.
  • Dream Skull: A head mount display coupled with sensor gloves released as a gaming device, but in actual fact contains Energy Stone scraps that like the Marionette Mask can turn the wearer into a Marionette.
  • Combat Stims: Contained within small capsules hidden in Yamato’s teeth, which can give him enhanced strength as well as enhanced endurance against Charyeok.
  • Poison Gas: Contained within yellow balls, once inhaled a person will swell up into a rampaging monstrosity.
  • Hand Grenade: Contained within blue balls, and on detonation can cause a powerful fiery explosion.
  • Hiroshima’s Revenge: A nuclear bomb, the remote detonator for which is contained in a golden ball.
  • Ouroboros: An extremely powerful satellite-hacking program that can take control of every active satellite in orbit and make them transmit Charyeok signals.

Weapons[]

Yamato is armed with a 6-shot revolver.
