Fighting in the war against the yakuza coalition loyal to Yamaguchi-gumi, Sugihara soon found Nine Dragons badly outmatched. While retreating with some surviving subordinates, he ran into a force of riot police, before Hajime Ryo appeared and killed a group of them in a show of power. Sugihara then expressed his concern on the repercussions of killing police, only to have his boss decapitate him with a swipe of katana.
