Sin Taepung was a Field Agent of Shadow.

Appearance[]

Sin Taepung was a tall and muscular man with black spiky hair and bearing scars over his body. He usually went out in a blue tracksuit, but when at work was regularly seen wearing the red company uniform and a Shield Suit.

Personality[]

Taepung is hot-blooded and quick-tempered, always eager to prove himself the greater, especially in front of Sin Yunseong to whom he felt indebted. He shares a rivalry with Gang Daehyeop, and had gotten jealous of his younger colleague’s glory to the point of going on a drunken rampage. In addition Taepung maintains an uneasy brotherhood with Eric Sin.

History[]

Beginning life as an orphan set adrift at sea in a bucket before being fished out by Hwang Ildo, Taepung who at the time was named “Bass” slaved away at his adoptive father’s circus while enduring all kinds of abuse. One time when he was testing his awakenting Charyeok, he attracted the attention of Eric, to whom he introduced a pet short-tailed albatross he named Minsu, only to have Eric who called him out as a hypocrite without the guts to leave Ildo euthanise the doomed Minsu suffering from battery ingestion, and in fury Bass’ Charyeok fully awakened. Later that night Bass found out he was sold to sexual slavery by Ildo, though Eric showed up in time to save him and make Ildo vanish. Bass was then brought to Yunseong who adopted him and renamed him “Taepung”, for which he was eternally grateful.

Plot[]

Eclipse[]

Heroes of Street[]

Arbitrarily pairing with Eric to put in line or eliminate unsanctioned Charyeok Users, Taepung went to challenge Daehyeop during a rainstorm in order to dissuade him from going to the Shadow interview at Seoul. After a tiring duel the both of them fought to a draw, and the arrival of Ban Sihyeon made him retreat with Eric.

Upon return to Seoul, Taepung and Eric went to eradicate Yun Taesu, only to find themselves outclassed by the serial murderer. Waking up at the hospital to Yunseong’s chiding, Taepung later takes Eric for a revenge match. As Daehyeop battled Taesu in the final round of the interviews, Taepung skydived towards them from a helicopter in order to reach terminal speed, and harnessing the extreme air currents with his Charyeok prevented Taesu from finishing off the defeated Daehyeop before blasting him down.

After recovery, Taepung who got temporarily suspended from arbitrary actions because of his unauthorised moves against Taesu joined Eric and Daehyeop for some leisure time in Seoul with Seo Yuri and Han Yewon, and subsequent to Shadow’s recognition by the South Korean government went ahead to take out the most Charyeok-wielding criminals in the company. His mood got soured when Daehyeop who was off with Violet Ella Wong Perez did not attend Eric’s house party, but just as Taepung wanted to have a rematch with him at work the following day, he was warned by Yunseong of the impending attack on the Shadow headquarters by Nine Dragons.

Leaving Eric who volunteered to be the rearguard behind, Taepung joined Daehyeop with fending off the horde of Marionettes so that Park Jinoh can lead the remaining employees to the escape route. After counterattacking Yamato’s missile attack, he and Daehyeop got ensnared in Sakura Yui’s mind control which made them fight each other, with Taepung successfully defeating Daehyeop who regained his will midway before collapsing at the feet of Yamato’s mob, and ended up getting rescued by Taesu and Violet.

Despite having his life-threatening wounds healed by Judge S, Taepung’s injuries were still severe enough to hamper his abilities, and so on ‘D-Day’ after flying Violet to Busan and throwing a few attacks on Hiro and people who Yamato transformed into monstrosities, Taepung’s body failed him which in turn got him taken as hostage by Hiro. Subsequent to Hiro’s defeat, Taepung was taken to a Seoul hospital that soon got surrounded by government agents who now saw Shadow as a threat and attempted to arrest its hospitalised employees. Managing to sneak out and regroup with Daehyeop and other employees who escaped arrest, Taepung called for going to Japan to prevent Hajime Ryo from using the Dream Skulls and Ouroboros to threaten the world, but his injuries forced him to stay put.

After Ryo’s defeat, Taepung helped Yunseong with coordinating the rebuilding of Shadow, though his relationship with Eric got more awkward.

Albatross is the Charyeok of Sin Taepung. It allows him to harness the wind or air currents around him.

  • Flight: The air currents can lift the user’s body into the air, and power flight at supersonic speeds.
  • Attack Enhancement: By controlling air currents to push his punches and kicks, Sin Taepung can power up the strength of his attacks.
  • Wind Attacks: The wind can be redirected into blasts of air to thump opponents with.
    • Hurricane Slam Sphere: When the air currents harnessed are extreme enough, Sin Taepung can gather them into a sphere filled with the power of a hurricane before discharging it at the opponent.
  • Wind Barrier: Sin Taepung can surround his body with air currents to deflect or absorb the power of attacks.
    • Rage Power Blast: When beset by explosions, Sin Taepung can harness the air movements caused by the detonation to generate a protective barrier, and with strong explosions he can even form a fiery albatross around himself for counterattacking.
