"Huh? H..hey? Hold on... I'm still transforming... okay?!" |
Ryong is a member of the Four Pillars of Fate.
Appearance[]
Despite being a dragon, Ryong possesses a mostly humanoid form, hiding his wings, fangs, and claws most of the time. Unlike his father, he doesn't bother to (or maybe he can't) hide his reddish-brown skin or his great height (3 metres or more).
He has two relatively short black horns (one of which is cut by Park Ilpyo). He normally carries several short swords on his back, but he disposes of them when he fights seriously.
Personality[]
Ryong is shown to be a serious individual that seems to be very loyal to his master. From what is seen, he does not talk much outside of combat, normally staying silent and only speaking when addressing his fellow figures. He appears to be very loyal to the Supreme God, going far as to go into a rage when Deer damaged the Earth as Ryong considered it to be master's world. During battle he talks more than usual, making small remarks and retorts to his opponent if they choose to speak, even commenting on their power and complimenting their abilities. Though he usually only says very basic things in response to his opponents actions. Nevertheless, he is also a ruthless individual as seen during his battle with Park Ilpyo, where he delivered powerful attacks that caused the fox to scream in pain, only for Ryong to tell him to shut up in response. He is also shown mocking his opponents abilities as he sees fit such as when he called Daewi amplifying gravity by 5,000 times on his body a silly trick that wouldn't work on him. Ryong usually carries an expressionless face not reacting to many things during or outside of combat. While he tries to deny it Ryong shows no care for the lives of humans as the moment that he noticed that there were bystanders in the battle between him and Han Daewi he attempted to kill them immediately. Ryong is also very prideful in his position as a pillar stating that he and the others are far stronger than the gods who stayed within the Heavenly realm and thinking less of them was arrogant. And that he was offended that they believed the pillars and the gods were of the same level.
When facing an opponent he views as worthy, Ryong discards his former demeanor, even apologizing to Daewi about his previous behavior and saying that he shall battle him with the skills he had gained from watching him. Ryong is shown to be very analytical in battle commenting on how the martial arts of him and Daewi have the same roots, and how using the Fundamental Forces on his own body are taxing. And noting how Daewi had gotten more used to the Jade Emperors power, but the rest of his body was still human which he used to his advantage. If pushed enough, Ryong will tell his opponent that he has very high praise for them and he respects them as a combatant. Despite being a pillar Ryong enjoys a good battle in a similar way to Jin Mori not wishing to fall behind and evolving to match his foe if the situation requires it. This may be rooted into the fact that during his last interaction with Mori he was told that he was not strong enough to follow him on the path ahead.
Because of his background with Jin Mori, he is brought to anger at the thought of him. He feels a deep distain towards him because Mori had not asked him to join him throughout the journey with Xuanzahng. Even going so far as to say that he would do anything possible to kill him. This may have been enhanced by what Tathagata had told him regarding the fact that Mori had devoured their master without the context as to why, leading to Ryong having a skewed view regarding his brother. These things in conjunction led this anger to sit within his body even causing him to expell this anger onto Han Daewi throughout their battle trying to convince him that Mori was as terrible as Ryong believed him to be. He is seen to go into a deep rage upon this belief being challenged and how well he actually knew Mori being questioned. Despite this, deep within his heart he still considers Mori a brother, questioning himself on if he was the one who lacked faith within his heart regarding his brother. During his battle with Dan Mori, he constantly questioned his brothers actions within his mind. Not able to grow past the fact that Mori had devoured Xuanzhang all those years ago. Eventually after his loss Mori had told him the full story of why he had devoured Xuanzhang and what Tathagata had told him. After hearing these things Ryong found true peace believing in his brother once again and becoming his Yeoui so that he could aid him in battle and so that he would never be left behind again like all those years ago.
History[]
During the past after Mori had become a disciple of the pilgrims, Ryong had joined him in his journey becoming a disciple as well and considering Xuanzhang his master. Throughout his time with these humans he was told that his race had become stagnant but he didnt have to be the same and that he should learn new skills, leading to him learning a series of martial arts from these Pilgrims. Within this period he was also taught a number of abilities by Mori himself including the ability to make a clone of himself similar to the Monkey Kings own cloning technique. Near the tail end of the journey between the three Mori came to Ryong to inform him that he wished for him to get lost as he viewed him too weak to follow him any further. While Ryong appeared to be fine with this decision in his heart he hated it and this would affect him mentally for billions of years to come. Despite how he actually felt Ryong complied leaving both Mori and Xuanzhang, and returning to his home at the Dragon Palace.
Ryong stayed within the Dragon Palace for a large amount of time not even realizing that the journey of Mori and Xuanzhang had come to an end. That was until the spirit of Tathagata had come before him handing him the bloody robe of Xuanzhang stating that he consumed her whole and ended his life. This caused his experiences with them and the pilgrims to race throughout his brain, as he was unable to comprehend why Mori had done this. In his time of great distress Tathagata extended his hand telling him to follow him, and to stand by and protect him. The entire time he asked himself why Mori had devoured their master which made him vulnerable at the time. Tathagata asked him what he wanted to become which led Ryong to saying he wanted to become something completely different. Like he had did with his other disciples Ryong was told to remove himself from the world. Leading him to slaughtering all dragons at the time including his father stating they had become stagnant. Though even through this he had not stopped asking himself why Mori consumed Xuanzhang. After completing this task he had become a Pillar of Fate, alongside Deer, Rabbit, and Monkey. During his time as a pillar he faced off against King Uma leaving a permanent scar on her face.
Plot[]
RE: A Round With God[]
When Park Mubong became the Supreme God and summoned the temple of Tathagata, Ryong appeared alongside the other pillars of fate before his master. Putting on the robe of Tathagata onto Ryong he alongside his fellow pillars prevented Dan Mori from initiating another attack on Mubong blocking his blow alongside the others. When he is seen again he is beside Mubong and the pillars while he tells the first batch of survivors about the 'selection' that was soon to be initated. Upon being seen again he is standing near the edge of the palace, unsheathing one of his many swords and sheathing it in energy launching a beam towards the ground that eradicates most if not all of the denizens in the area. Following that up he unsheathed a rather small knife coating that in the same energy, he blew onto it causing the swords to race to the ground going through most of the survivors of his initial attack. When Dan Mori attempts to protect the remaining civilians in the area by stopping the selection, Ryong appears slashing down his chest in an attempt to kill him inadvertently killing the minions behind him. Stating that because he was the one who devoured Xuanzang he would do anything possible to kill him. During this battle he comments on how Dan Mori was weaker then before and that if his current level of power was all that he got from devouring their master. Attacking Dan with a move that left a permanent scar upon King Uma, both of his swords were easily severed in two by Dan. Despite this Ryong showed no care instead switching to the martial arts he had learned thanks to the pilgrims. Though these attacks did little of nothing on Dan Mori, leading to him to be attacked by a rapid combo by monkey king. Though he didn't react to the attack causing him to try to smash Dan Mori into the ground.
Before the battle could continue Deer appeared next to him shrouding him in a barrier telling him that he tried to use his power and if he had forgotten his promise. Instead of listening Ryong bit the top halves of both Deer and the disciples. Shifting his body into his original dragon form, thinking on how skills will only take one so far on someone above him in power. Commenting again how Dan Mori had grown we weak only to be hit in his side by the boy. Not missing a beat he blitzed through Dan Mori the two clashing in attacks, however this had all been a diversion as to allow his master to gain the location of Mori. Ryong stands there as Deer destroys the Dragon Armoursuits, before the two were able to kill Mori, they were caught within the Hope: Sovereignty by Lee Sujin, both being cursed upon contact allowing both Dan and Sujin to escape. Deer then attempted to exterminate them both but Ryong grabs his arm stopping his attack as it could accidentally hit the temple of Mubong. Deer comments on how Ryong is too soft and that he could have killed everyone there if he just made more of an effort. In retort Ryong simply told Deer to break the curse, but before Deer did he told him that if he ever touched him again he'd tear him to pieces. Before leaving Ryong tells Deer to watch his back as Mori is dangerous.
Ryong is seen again near the climax of the battle between Deer and Yu Mira commenting on how he used his ultimate technique, When Deer initiates Black Lotus, Ryong yells in distress telling him not to defile the world of their master though this goes on deaf ears. Ryong is seen once more on the edge of the palace of Mubing commenting on how it's embarrassing that the strongest weapon was broken in two. While commenting on this Monkey asks for him to come to him, when he arrives he is told how the half of Yeoui that was picked up in the battle following Mubongs ascension seemed to be strangely moving for around an hour. He then comments on how it was being summoned and the dragons had gone completely mad, and that this is why they were doomed to fail. In the middle of his conversation with Monkey, the half of Yeoui begins to move rapidly breaking itself from the chains they used to hold it down. When it broke free he attempted to tell Mubong but was stopped by Monkey, because of how he was communicating with Gaia. Speaking to himself Ryong comments on how he spared his father for Mori and how he wanted to have fun like they always had.
After Mubongs conversation with Gaia, Ryong appears asking if he was okay, only to be told that if he ever touched him again that he would be killed. When Mubong begins to destroy the world, during the counterattack Ryong surveys the area trying to locate Mori only to find that he was nowhere to be found. Upon the human forces trying to destroy Mubongs new world, Ryong appeared in the control center killing many of the personnel and engaging in battle with Park Ilypo. Stating how the humans are arrogant for thinking that stopping his masters world would be enough to stop them. After seeing that they would not stop their mission he comments on how he and the other pillars are far better then the beings who stayed within the heavenly realm as they decided to follow him. While the rest of the humans battled the forces of Mubong, Ryong dominated Park in their battle easily beating him into a wall, despite saying he understood the fear that the Jade Emperor had of him. Near the end of the confrontation the two clash with Park slicing off one of the horns of Ryong leading him to say that he was as strong as they say. The two engaged in one last clash ending with Park being stabbed through his stomach by one of the dragons swords, and upon removal his death.
Following the defeat of Park, Ryong raced towards Daewi completely dodging his gravity x1000. Attempting to use a thunder dragon technique, Ryongs head was buried into the ground by Daewi, followed by him increasing the gravity on his body to x5000. However this increase had no effect on Ryong, allowing him to completely ignore the increase even up to 10,000x. Introducing himself, Ryong is immediately assaulted by a barrage of force imbued strikes from Daewi, every attack that he had attempted was immediately negated by the mans strength. Attempting to attack Daewi once more he witnesses the humans in the area and attempts to kill them only to be stopped by Samuel in his direct contract state. While battling Rosinante he was stabbed by arrows from the bow of Hercules though he shrugged them off without worry. Witnessing the humans regain their desire to fight he questions if it was because of their faith in Park or their confidence in Daewi. Engaging him once again Ryong is battered by strikes infused with concentrated bursts of natural forces. Remembering the words of Mori after seeing the skills of display by Daewi, Ryong apologizes for his behaviour beginning to use the martial arts gained during his time with Xuanzang. Ryong and Daewi begin to trade attacks blow for blow, commenting how Full Contact Karate and the Xuanzang style have the same roots. Using an attack of air pressure similar to Wave of the blue dragon the robe of sage is ripped off of Daewis body. While being assaulted by a barrage of blows from Daewi's force infused attacks, Ryong creates a duplicate of himself, and attacks Daewi while releasing his dragon bone
Attempting to finish off Daewi his fist is caught noting he has the body of a god in his left arm and right eye he uses this to his advantage he ruthlessly assaulted the mans body. After hearing the screams of the people being exterminated by Mubong, Daewi grows in power to a point where Ryong has trouble even perceiving his movements. Not wishing to fall behind Ryong begins to improve as well, asking why he did not give up and if he was waiting for Mori. During a clash between himself and Daewi, Ryong reflects on the day he became a pillar asking himself why Mori did not ask him to come with him. All the while he tried to convince Daewi that Mori was not coming to save them. Upon Daewi's belief in Mori not fading and only being reinforced, Ryong attempts to kill Daewi then in there as he chooses not to think about what Daewi had told him. While he slowly thinks about if he was the one who lacked in faith, he activates his dragon bones attempting to take the head off of Daewi before the left side of his body is completely eradicated. Falling to the ground he is eventually met by rabbit, being forced to return to his original form as a dragon though he is quickly defeated by Haetae in direct contract.
When Dan Mori had finally returned, Ryong awoke once more attempting to kill the rest of the pillars and engaging in a battle with his brother. Attempting to mimic Daewi's own ultimate technique by compiling all the force of his body into his fists his moves are quickly countered by Dan Mori. During the battle he asks himself many questions regarding his past ending in him asking why Mori ate Xuanzang. Unleashing a breath attack from his mouth, he is nearly killed by Dan Mori before he stops the blow from completely landing. Upon Mori stating the reason for him not bringing him with him and how he was sorry Ryong seems to finally wish to rest. Before he was able to die, he assists Dan Mori one last time murdering many of the clones of Monkey which had nearly caused his brother to lose his composure and the battle. Snapping his brother out of it he comments how Dan Mori isn't even worth laughing at and that he's the better brother. Stating how Dan is always ignoring him his body finally begins to collapse, stating to Dan Mori to let him be stubborn. Shifting his entire body into a new Yeoui for Dan he states that with this he'll be with him always, and forever. Finally being used to enhance the final attack of Dan he assists in the defeat of Monkey in his new form growing from the emotional turmoil he had faced and helping his brother no matter what.
Abilities[]
Ryong is an exceptionally powerful Dragon, capable of killing all of the current dragons of the time on the day that he became a pillar, and capable of contending with Han Daewi even when he used a multitude of the Fundamental Forces to amplify his attacks and batter his body. He was able to easily defeat Park Ilypo, a member of the Six and the world president at the time.
When using martial arts his power increases drastically allowing him to match and in some points completely overpower Han Daewi when using them despite beforehand being completely overpowered by the human with seemingly no contest.
Superhuman Strength: Like his fellow pillars Ryong's power is exceptionally high, he was able to easily cleave through the skin of Dan Mori using his sword, and force him to use of his power even though he tried to hide it, and was stated that he could easily beat current Dan and co had he just made more of an effort. While not using his full capabilities he was able to easily defeat Samuel Rosinante in his direct contract state, and he was able to dominate Park Ilpyo in their battle forcing him into his nine tailed unleashed state only to defeat him in one blow then after. While colliding in blows he was powerful enough to leave marks on the Robe of Sage and match Han Daewi blow for blow. His power was so great when using his martial arts that even the Robe of Sage was ineffective when attempting to defend against it. Near the beginning of their battle, he showed the ability to not only stand and move, but completely ignore the effects of gravity x1,000, x5000, and x10,000. When clashing in blows with Daewi, the shockwaves from their attacks were enough to completely part the sky in their area. During his battle with Daewi he was able to completely overpower the human and force him to constantly evolve less he wanted to be completely overshadowed showing Ryong's. He was even able to casually lift one of the Yeoui and toss it with 1 arm despite his fellow pillar Deer only able to briefly withstand its weight.
Superhuman Endurance: He has shown remarkable endurance and stamina, fighting Han Daewi in a dragged out battle with no drain in stamina seen. Even with half of his body blown apart by Han Daewi he was still able to move about and battle, despite being stated to be long dead by Mubong himself. Despite him being in a near death state, he was still able to battle Haetae, and nearly kill Rabbit, and Deer in one blow had it not been for Monkey reviving them. He also had shown no reaction to pain, and brutal injuries instead fighting like they never occurred. Even when he was battered by many recoiless blows from Dan Mori, he continued the battle and showed no reaction to them. He was completely unhurt while getting shot the arrows from the bow of Hercules, only the arrows' head are stuck on his skin.
Supernatural Durability: Ryong's scales are exceptionally durable to the point where even when Dan Mori barraged him with recoilless blows not one breached his skin nor did any noticeable damage, this was to the point where Ryong did not react to them and continued attacking immediately after use. Even when Han Daewi massively amplified his blows by infusing them with a burst of Fundamental Forces in the instant of contact these strikes did little to nothing to impede Ryong. Despite Han barraging him with blows using the forces these did nothing to Ryong despite the attacks being rather relentless. Even though Han's own power increased massively throughout their fight his blows still proved to be ineffective again Ryong, not even doing as much as breaking his skin. The only thing that allowed Daewi to get through his scales and leave decent damage was him using Ultimate Nothingness Recoiless with natural force, or infinity punch.
Superhuman Speed: He is shown to have incredible speeds despite his size, appearing from the edge of the temple of Tathagata to appear in front of Dan and slashing down his chest in an instant. This speed is again shown when he dodges Daewi increasing gravity 1,000x, zigzagging through the increase and appearing before Daewi immediately. The difference was to the point that Ryong commented how he can simply dodge that spell.
Master Combatant: As a result of his time with pilgrims and as a pillar he is a master of martial arts, with skills that are powerful enough to match Han Daewi's Full Contact Karate completely. Additionally he is adept at swordsmanship with it being his main form of combat besides martial arts, and the techniques created from this was powerful enough to leave a permanent scar upon King Uma's face, one of the nine kings. He was able to learn Ultimate Nothingness Recoiless just by seeing Han using it.
Energy Manipulation: Ryong has the ability to coat his swords with energy, so far this has been shown to grant them the ability to fire beams from it's tip, or be telepathically controlled by him even at once distances.
Ryong x Ryong (Duplication): The cloning technique of the monkey king taught to him by Jin Mori himself, this can be done with a thought and the clone appears to have both the power of the original, but everything else. As it is presumably the same technique it can be assumed that if his clones proximity to Ryong was lessened it's power would decrease as well, and at some point it would develop it's own personality similar to Hui Mori when he grew far away from the original.
Ryong Breath: A breath attack from Ryong which is fired out as a beam or blast of air pressure it is shown to have considerable power as it forced Mori Dan to shift into Jin Mori mode to withstand it, and it burnt Han Daewi's side even though he was only briefly brushed by it.
Dragon Bones: Ryong can manipulate his own bones to bring forth two Yeoui from his body, they both seem to be able to partly extend a short distance. By fully manipulating these bones, most of his dragon features extend such as his wings, horns, and tail. With multiple large bones forming around him, if he so wishes he can transform them into a set of armour around his body increasing his capabilities greatly. It also appears to amplify his natural abilities as the power and width of his Ryong breath was greatly increased to the point of forcing Dan Mori into Jin Mori Mode.
Techniques// Abilities[]
Martial Arts[]
Xuanzang Style[]
- Xuanzang Style Divine Right: By striking his horns with lightning from a cloud, he sends out a right hook the shockwaves from the force powerful enough to send things flying throughout the area.
- Xuanzang Style Basic Skill: Interrupts the opponents attack by deflecting it with his left arm, then sending out a powerful punch similar to Basaltic Fist.
- Xuanzang Nahan Dance: Barrages the opponent with a flurry of open palmed, closed fist, and leg attacks.
- Xuanzang Palgye Nahanjang: Taking control of the air flow and directs it at his opponent as a powerful blast of air, the attack is powerful enough to completely part the clouds in the area where it was used. Additionally it has the ability to suck in those around it if the attack initially missed. Upon repeated use it had enough force that even the Robe of Sage could not resist it.
- Nanhanjang Samcho: Lowering himself into a stance, Ryong sends out a powerful blast of air towards his foe many times stronger then Palgye causing a small twister like amount of pressure as it fires forward.
- Sacho: Gathering energy within his hands, it can be assumed the effect is even more powerful than Samcho as it caused Daewi to believe that there was no way to stop it and he had no way to defend against it. However it seems to take a small amount of time to charge as Daewi stopped Ryong from fully charging his energy thus preventing the techniques from being used.
Thunder Dragon Style[]
- Thunder Dragon Diamond Twist: Striking his horns with lightning he uses this lightning to dash forward at extreme speeds, this move is similar to ITF Taekwondo's hyperspeed in the way that it is a burst of speed in one direction.
- Thunder Dragon: Dashing forward in a similar way to Diamond Twist, Ryong manifests the avatar of a dragon around his body to amplify his attack and extending the damage that can be done outside of his initial attack.
Ultimate Nothingness Recoiless[]
- Similar to Recoiless Renewal that Jin Mori used, the technique is based on focusing energy into a single point without wasting any movement. It greatly amplified his striking speed and power, being able to blitz and easily destroy a large part of Han Daewi's left shoulder, as well as the unpredictableness for not needed to be in any stance to use an attack.
