Eric Sin was a Field Agent of Shadow.

Appearance[]

The son of a Caucasian father and an Asian mother, Eric had a handsome face with blond hair and blue eyes as well as a tall and lean stature. He usually went out in a white shirt, but when at work was regularly seen wearing the red company uniform plus a Shield Suit, and in preparation for pitched battle would change into a magician’s outfit.

Personality[]

Eric generally puts on a cool and calculative demeanour, acting as a counterbalance against his hot-headed brother and colleagues. Yet despite trying to put it behind him, the trauma of witnessing his parents’ grisly deaths during his infancy gave Eric a ruthless edge that drives him to kill either out of mercy, whenever those he held dear were threathened or if the opportunity to take revenge presented itself.

He harbours an affection towards Sin Taepung even though their relationship was soured by the occurances during their first meeting, thus was jealous of Gang Daehyeop at whom Taepung was willing to express more emotions. Eric also sees Ban Sihyeon as a dangerous rival who was in the position to Daehyeop as he was to Taepung.

History[]

When Eric was 5 years old, his father who was a shipping broker involved in smuggling operations between Asian countries stole some cocaine from Nine Dragons. The yakuza organisation thus sent a number of masked underlings led by Hajime Ryo and Vincent to his home, and while the house was searched for the cocaine, Ryo ordered Eric’s father beaten and mother raped before brutally murdering them and sawing their bodies to pieces. Spared thanks to the efforts of Vincent who was disgusted at the atrocity, Eric was locked up in the basement with his parents’ rotting corpses for 3 days before being discovered by neighbours.

Eric was afterwards adopted by Sin Yunseong, and 5 years later when travelling South Korea alone, he met the orphan Bass who was slaving away at Hwang Ildo’s circus. Despite enraging Bass by killing his pet short-tailed albatross which was dying from battery ingestion as well as calling him out as a hypocrite for not having the guts to leave his abusive adoptive father, Eric still showed up that night to rescue Bass from rape and disappear Ildo, then brought Bass to Yunseong to become his new brother “Taepung”.

Plot[]

Eclipse[]

Heroes of Street[]

Arbitrarily pairing with Taepung to put in line or eliminate unsanctioned Charyeok Users, Eric spectated his brother's fight with Daehyeop during a rainstorm in an attempt to dissuade the candidate from going to the Shadow interview at Seoul. After the duelling pair collapsed from exhaustion, Eric tried to finish Daehyeop off, but was forced to retreat with Taepung when Sihyeon showed up.

Upon return to Seoul, Eric and Taepung went to eradicate Yun Taesu, only to find themselves outclassed by the serial murderer. Both of them ended up hospitalised, and after talking Taepung out of a rash revenge match, Eric accompanied him on the helicopter ride before his brother skydived to take out Taesu.

Temporarily suspended from arbitrary actions because of his unauthorised moves against Taesu, Eric joined Taepung and Daehyeop for some leisure time in Seoul with Seo Yuri and Han Yewon, and subsequent to Shadow’s recognition by the South Korean government helped Baek Yeonwoo catch Charyeok-wielding criminals. He soon moved into a new home office and invited Taepung and Daehyeop as well as employees like Yewon, Esna and Yu Chiyeoung for a house party. But on the day of the party, after driving Daehyeop to Gyeongsangnam-do so he can deal with a bank robbery that was in fact perpetrated by Elite Apostles of Nox, Eric while withdrawing behind the police blockade ran into Sihyeon leading the evacuation of his Nox brethren. Realising that Sihyeon had no idea the Shadow agent battling Violet Ella Wong Perez at the bank was actually Daehyeop, Eric let the other Nox followers go on the condition that Sihyeon fight him, only to be instantly defeated by Wilhelm. Yet his predicament did not end there, as he found his car driven off by Violet with Daehyeop as passenger, leaving him to footslog it back to Seoul in time for the party sans Daehyeop.

The day after he dreamt of his parents’ murder, Eric got a warning from Yunseong of an impending attack on the Shadow headquarters. Discovering that the attackers were of the Nine Dragons, Eric chose to stay behind as a rearguard while Park Jinoh led the other employees to escape. He trapped the first wave of attackers led by Vincent in the operation manager's office, where he used his Charyeok to kill them off one by one, but when he and Vincent discovered who each other was, the Han River blown into the headquarters by Yamato’s missiles swept them away.

Agreeing to partnership with Vincent so that they can take out Ryo, Eric laid low since the attack on Shadow in order to travel with him to Tokyo where he was shown the vegetative Sofia. They then took the opportunity of Nine Dragons’ war with Yamaguchi-gumi’s coalition in Nagoya to launch their own attack on Nine Dragons Hall, killing many of the remaining henchmen. Yet following Ryo’s victory over Vincent, Eric was rendered unable to activate his Charyeok nor harm Ryo, and both were tied up to the Yggdrasil where their Charyeok energies were drained.

After Ryo’s defeat and the wilting of the Yggdrasil, Eric let Sofia stay at his home office and pushed for Vincent to join Shadow so that he can keep an eye on them, while finding his relationship with Taepung getting more awkward.

The Key[]

Abilities[]

As a Field Agent, Eric possesses enough martial prowess for unarmed combat, but he prefers using weapons and magic, which Sin Yunseong had once evaluated to be capable of destroying Shadow should he choose to turn against them.

Superhuman Reflexes: Eric has extra quick reflexes, and is able to respond to gunshots aimed to kill him.

Superhuman Agility: Eric is quite agile in motion, and can unleash skillful attacks up close.

Charyeok[]

David Copperfield is the Charyeok of Eric. It tweaks light rays to create illusions and lets him cast magic spells, plus generating a dimension in which he can play whatever tricks he likes on his Guests.

  • Back Stage: Bends light rays around somebody to make their position as observers see it shift several centimetres sideways, which can prevent one’s vital areas from being targeted.
  • Bullet Catch: Allows Eric to catch an incoming projectile such as a bullet with his teeth.
  • Show Time: In an environment that is reflected by mirrors, Eric can create a dimension taking the form of a grand stage at a magic show, where he can use the Guests on stage as subjects for all sorts of wild magic tricks.
    • Helpers: Once on stage, Eric can generate an army of helpers taking the form of young men who restrain the Guests and help put them through the tricks.
    • Dismemberment Trick: Involves sawing somebody trapped in a box into multiple living pieces which can be reformed into a distorted arrangement.
    • Disappearing Trick: Involves covering somebody with a piece of cloth before yanking it away to disappear them from existence.
    • Million Star Illusionist: Involves stuffing somebody into a cannon and firing them into the air where they blow up.
