Summary[]

Seeing Gang Daehyeop with his golden aura ignited, Hajime Ryo is overjoyed that real heroes are coming to get him. While not understanding the Japanese speech, Gang Daehyeop is still able to realise that the survivors of the Japanese equivalent of Shadow are being forced to eat the crushed remains of Nekoyashi. Finding Hajime Ryo who looks much different than last seen on the banks of the Han River being a level of villain unlike Yun Taesu and Yamato, Gang Daehyeop feels a killer instinct welling up inside him, and as Hajime Ryo is about to crush Erika’s head throws a fist of fury that illuminates the district in golden light.

7 years ago when Sakura Yui turned Yamato’s laboratory into a wreck, with Abel’s assistance Hajime Ryo became a Charyeok User and tested his new powers by draining the bio-energy of a Nox follower. Abel then explained that Soul Eater is a Charyeok which works by converting Charyeok energy into physical strength, and when Hajime Ryo declared his plan for draining all the Charyeok Users of the world, advised him to play safe or else draw the attention of powerful Charyeok Users before he is strong enough to take them on. Commenting about Yamato’s genius in coming up with the Dream Skulls and Ouroboros as well as their flaws, Abel gifted Hajime Ryo the Yggdrasil and instructed him to lay low for a while, so that they could proceed with the plan to make Hajime Ryo the sole Charyeok User in order to bring on the ‘ultimate peace’.

To Gang Daehyeop’s shock, Hajime Ryo catches his Charyeok-infused punch singlehandedly. As a green aura ignites on Hajime Ryo, Gang Daehyeop manages to free his fist and unleash a flurry of punches, against which Hajime Ryo parries with his palms, creating shockwaves that start shattering the district and squash down on the other Charyeok Users. Hajime Ryo then uses Erika who has been reduced to a dry husk as a meat shield to make Gang Daehyeop hesitate before punching him through a building, and afterwards proceeds with draining other Charyeok Users of their energy. Appalled at Hajime Ryo killing people simply for power, Gang Daehyeop communicates with his fists by punching Hajime Ryo down and subsequently grabs his hair to drag his face through a series of hard obstacles. Yet Hajime Ryo manages to break free and stamp onto Gang Daehyeop’s head to send him down into a subway station platform, only to have Gang Daehyeop seize the distraction of the descending rubble to spin kick Hajime Ryo in the jaw. Roaring about the number of people Hajime Ryo had sacrificed for his mighty power, Gang Daehyeop throws a string of precise attacks that beats him down. However in an act of spite Hajime Ryo lunges at Gang Daehyeop so they both fall onto the train tracks, where an oncoming unmanned train hits them and derails to cause a chain reaction that collapses the subway line.

Following Sin Yunseong through the eerily quiet and dark streets on their way to Nine Dragons Hall, Han Yewon wonders why were the tens of thousands of inhabitants able to evacuate in such a short time.  However Sin Yunseong points out a lit mansion filled with people wearing Dream Skulls, and to Han Yewon’s disbelief he empties a flask of whiskey while spasming, reminding her of Park Jinoh telling her that they cannot witness their chief executive’s current state.  When the remaining inhabitants controlled by Yamato’s version of Dream Skulls that Hajime Ryo later reused start charging, Sin Yunseong tells Han Yewon to run because he is unable to attack them, and despite the pleas of Han Yewon who raises her weakening Barrier around them, the trauma and guilt from slaughtering 50 innocent civilians after the kill command wore off have cracked his sanity and make him give up.  But as Han Yewon’s Charyeok begins disappearing, the Marionettes abandon attacking them and instead drag members of the Japanese Charyeok User team towards Nine Dragons Hall.  Seeing the earthquakes and collapsing subway as a sign that Gang Daehyeop is still fighting on, Han Yewon becomes determined to not give up.

Regaining consciousness atop a train wheel, a weary Gang Daehyeop wants to drift into sleep, and upon seeing Hajime Ryo all bloodied but still standing admires his prowess. Meanwhile Hajime Ryo, who tried to drain Gang Daehyeop’s Charyeok energy without success, finally realises that Gang Daehyeop had already exerted all the mental energy inherent in Charyeok through the neverending bloody battles over the past half month since the final interview. Horrified at Gang Daehyeop reaching the state where he can match him in battle even with the residual level of aura being squeezed out, Hajime Ryo gets headbutted away by Gang Daehyeop who lost his right arm in the crash. When questioned why is he still fighting, Gang Daehyeop replies that it’s because somebody is still putting their trust in him.
