Summary

The Sky Whale enters the atmosphere and begins to separate.

Lee Soo-Jin recalls her past. Her mother was born in a mine that her family was sent to after her grandfather, Lee Soo-Hyuk, gave South Korea information on Northern ITF Taekwondo. Her mother would later give birth to her and would raise her in the mine as a single mother.

Soo-Jin recalls all of her fellow miners and how kind they all were. One day when she was five, she snuck into the mine to give her mom some food. Once there, the mine collapsed, trapping her, her mom, Ma Dong-Chul, Jo Jung-Duk, and Park Pan-Suk. The others all gave their food to Soo-Jin so that she could survive until rescue arrived. A few days after the initial cave-in, Dong-Chul and Pan-Suk died of suffocation. They decided to stop breathing through the tube that provided oxygen because they didn't want to deal with hunger or thirst anymore.
